About this event

Children's Saturday's theme is picture book author Maria Vilja's The Invisible Backpack series, which deals with the life of a sensitive child. In the children's area, there will be reading moments and activities related to the book, as well as a book exhibition. From 14:00-15:30, the programme includes a workshop led by Maria Vilja, where you can craft your own backpack companion. In the workshop, you can craft a delightful backpack companion. Rosali, the main character in Marja Vilja's The Invisible Backpack books, has a soft toy friend, Piggy, who, as a power figure and companion, verbalises Rosali's feelings. In the workshop, everyone gets to make their own character as a backpack companion. The companion can come along as one's own power figure and friend, who sees the secret backpack and reminds of its existence. In the workshop, we will consider what an important reminder from one's own backpack companion could be. The workshop is led by illustrator-author Maria Vilja and children's and youth emotional skills instructor Reetta Huhta. Welcome! The workshop is free of charge.
