The magnetic Mimie Moore Jazz Edition arrives at Vernissa, Vantaa, together with actor Kai Bäckström. On stage, you will see a seven-member band and the charismatic Bäckström, who poetically interprets the saga of Mimie Moore! Mimie Moore is a surprising acoustic trio of three women (Elina Brooks, Maija Kurki & Saana Trygg-Nevanlinna). In Mimie Moore's works, they wildly leap between moods, not shying away from even quirky tones, as juicy vocal harmonies thunder across all scales of humour and seriousness. The band's unique, rooted sound with vocals, bucket bass, accordions, and washboards brings a touch of the old world to new music. Known for her stage charisma, Mimie Moore tells stories of humanity amidst life's waves, sensitively and bravely, without hiding big emotions. Over the years, the band has performed at events throughout Finland and Germany and collaborated with numerous bands, musicians, and actors. The trio has been awarded in Basso radio's NOST€ competition and has produced music for, among others, the Finnish skate national team. In 2020, the trio invited top artists from the Finnish jazz scene to form the seven-member Mimie Moore Jazz Edition. The Mimie Moore Jazz Edition's distinctive, boldly genre-defying music, dubbed “swamp jazz”, is interpreted by top musicians Mikko Iivanainen (guitar), Gunu Karjalainen (trumpet, keyboards), Esko Grundström (bass), and Jesse Ojajärvi (drums). With support from the Arts Promotion Centre Finland, the successful “10 years of honey” tour, realised in 2025-2026, was celebrated by further expanding the band: the charismatic Finnish-Swedish actor Kai Bäckström will be seen exploring and interpreting Mimie Moore's mystery and inner world. Kai guides the listener into an intimate experience where the story flows through the entire concert. Finnish and Swedish poems add layers to the evening, weaving music and word art together. Bäckström takes the listener deeper into the songs with his poetic interpretation, opening Mimie Moore's saga and asking: who is Mimie Moore?
