In a magnificent location on the shore of a pond shaped by an old quartzite quarry, hikers, mountain bikers, and cross-country skiers can use a spacious lean-to and an outdoor table with benches. Additionally, the rest stop has a private lean-to owned by Tahko Safari. The quartzite mine was active from 1940-1948, producing white quartzite sand and gravel. Approximately 40,000 tons of sand were transported to a porcelain factory before the mine closed. A considerable pit remained, which filled with clear water.
