Suovu-Palosen luontopolut

Suovu nature trail: the trail is approximately 3.5 km long and is located along the Suovu hiking trail. Vanhansahansaari nature trail: the trail is approximately 1 km long and is located in the 16-hectare Vanhansahansaari nature reserve, in the middle of the Suovu-Palonen recreational area. This preserved spruce forest is allowed to develop into a primeval forest. In the 18th and 19th centuries, the area boasted flourishing industry. A water sawmill was established on Vanhansahansaari in 1754, which was moved to Suovunkoski in the late 1830s. Signs of this include the old, now renovated log-floating channel. In addition to the sawmill, the area had a barge shipyard, a brick factory, a mill, and an elementary school. The area also has private holiday homes; please do not disturb the residents' peace.
