Tuomaansalon tulipaikka
Tuomaansalo, 70100 Kuopio
About this place
Tuomaansalo is located in central Kallavesi, about 10 km from the centre of Kuopio. The island is part of Kuopio National Urban Park. On the west side of the island is a deep-shore bay, sheltered from most winds, excellent for landing. The rocky island is a popular boating destination. The shores of the rocky headland in the middle of the bay are so deep that a sailboat can moor there. A strong north-westerly wind can make landing difficult. The island is located near the 3.0 m shipping lane. The best way to approach the place is from the north side of the island, being careful of the reefs and rocks marked on the nautical chart on the west side of the island. To the west and south of the island are the protected bird islands of Tölpät and Paskosaaret, where landing is prohibited between 1.5 and 31.7. Movement near these islands should also be avoided during the birds' nesting season. Firewood service is available at the site. Mooring: stern buoys, mooring rings, anchor Facilities: campfire site, firewood, waste disposal point, toilet, guest harbour, buoy berths
