About this place

The Vaskio nature trail was established by volunteers along the Vaskionjoki river during 2017–2018. The nature trail is also part of Vaskio School's "Our Local Waters" project. The trail runs through the areas of two different landowners and mainly follows the riverbank. In three places, the path ascends to the edge of fields, offering views of the Vaskio village landscape and vast open fields. At the beginning of the trail, after the carpet washing area, sturdy wooden stairs lead down to the Vaskionjoki riverbank, guiding hikers onto the nature trail. The stairs were designed and built alongside the nature trail with funding from the "Yards and Paths" theme project, granted by Ykkösakseli ry. Since its completion, the trail has been maintained by volunteers, clearing trees and mowing the path. The total length of the route is approximately 2 kilometres. About 500 metres from the starting point (carpet washing area, Nuohoojankuja 27), there is a lean-to completed in 2022, named Vaskion Pentinniityn laavu. The lean-to was built as part of the LIVE 6 theme project. Please take any rubbish with you when you leave. Rubbish left in nature is, for example, life-threatening to birds and other animals in the area. In an emergency, call 112. State who you are, where you are (exact address and municipality), and what has happened. Ask for help from other people on the trail and stay until professional help arrives. Guide helpers to the location. Call again if the situation changes. By downloading the 112 Suomi mobile application and calling through it in an emergency, you speed up the arrival of help. Your location coordinates are automatically transmitted to the emergency centre via the application. The 112 Suomi application can be downloaded from app stores under the name “112 Suomi”. Maintenance is provided by Waskio-seura ry.
