Tuomaansalo 140, 70100 Kuopio
About this place
Tuomaansalo is located in central Kallavesi, approximately 10 km from Kuopio city centre. The island is part of Kuopio National Urban Park. On the western side of the island, there is a deep-shore bay sheltered from most winds, which is excellent for landing. The rocky island is a popular boating destination. The shores of the rocky headland in the middle of the bay are so deep that a sailboat can moor there. Strong north-westerly winds can make landing difficult. The island is located near the 3.0 m shipping lane. It is best to approach the location from the north side of the island, carefully avoiding the rocks and reefs marked on the nautical chart on the western side of the island. To the west and south of the island are the protected bird islands of Tölpät and Paskosaaret, where landing is prohibited between 1 May and 31 July. Movement near these islands should also be avoided during the bird nesting season. Firewood supply is available at the site. Moorings: stern buoys, mooring rings, anchor Facilities: campfire site, firewood, waste disposal point, toilet, guest harbour, buoy berths
