Pirttiniemi

The Pirttiniemi forest area is located at the southern end of the Kelloniemi district. Forest paths run along the shores of the area, and can also be found in the hilly forest on the Pirttiniemi side. The area is a spruce-dominated coniferous forest. On the Pirttiniemi side, there is a high hillock where a small ski jump, now dismantled, used to be located. The home harbour of Kuopion Pursiseura (Kuopio Yacht Club) is located in the eastern part of Pirttiniemi. From the head of Telkkistenlahti bay, the forest paths continue north along the shores to the Telkkistenpuisto area. The shores offer fine views of Kallavesi lake. There are no services in the area. The area is most easily accessible on foot or by bike along the road leading from the beginning of Vesitie road to the head of Telkkistenlahti bay. The nearest bus stop is approximately 1 km away in Itkonniemi on Itkonniemenkatu street.
