Kuhankuonon retkeilyreitistö - Vajosuon vaellus
Savojärventie 103, 21270 Nousiainen
About this place
Part of the Kuhankuono hiking trail network. The Vajosuo hike, almost 30 kilometres long, is a two-day trip for many experienced walkers, so the route should be planned according to overnight accommodation options. Good starting points are Rantapiha and Kurjenpesä in the north, and the Vajosuo car park in the south. The route passes through the open bogs of Kurjenrahka National Park, the ancient forest area of Pukkipalo, and the landscapes of Savojärvi. Outside the national park, the landscape varies between forests, fields, roads, and paths. Along the route, there are three lean-tos with fire pits, as well as a rental cabin which is available from April to October. Drinking water is available at Kurjenpesä and Rantapiha. Vajosuo and Kurjenrahka also have birdwatching towers. The terrain of the route is relatively easy with few changes in elevation. Bog sections are traversed along duckboards. In dry weather, trainers are sufficient, but in rainy conditions, waterproof shoes are recommended. The routes are not maintained in winter, but the starting points are ploughed. The route runs through the areas of Nousiainen, Rusko, Turku, Aura, and Pöytyä.
