About this place
On Hartola's Kuninkaanpolku (King's Trail), you will experience an interesting combination of the region's diverse nature and culture. See trout swimming in the clear waters of Ekonkoski from its arch bridge, relax on the path through the swamp forest, and cross the gently swaying suspension bridge to the beautiful setting of the Itä-Häme Museum to learn about the region's diverse history. Hartola's Kuninkaanpolku can be started either near Linna-Hotelli or from the Itä-Häme Museum. Starting from Linna-Hotelli, you can immediately enjoy the fine old buildings of Itä-Häme College, from which an idyllic gravel road leads towards the arch bridge crossing the clear-watered Ekonkoski rapids of Tainionvirta. From the arch bridge, continue along the gravel road until the path branches off to the right into a forest section, where you can experience a forested swamp landscape. The suspension bridge leads across the Tainionvirta river to the magnificent setting of the Itä-Häme Museum. From the suspension bridge, there is a beautiful view to the Koskipää manors to the front left: the yellow building is Vanha Koskipää (Old Koskipää), and the green one is Uusi Koskipää (New Koskipää). The green Koskipää now houses the Itä-Häme Museum, while the yellow building houses the Maila Talvio Salonki with its summer exhibitions. By the river, in a sturdy log house, events such as the Outo Lintu – movie night are now held in August, and it is rented out for various celebrations. Hartola's Kuninkaanpolku is a trail network consisting of four sections, forming a cohesive yet diverse whole. Explore them all together or separately! There are two swimming spots along the route; one at the sports field and one near Kaikulantie. Additionally, near the Itä-Häme Museum, there is a winter ice swimming spot.
