About this place
On the ancient trail of Rikalanmäki and Linnamäki, you can explore the history of the area, especially the Iron Age, but also earlier and later periods. On the reverse side of this brochure, you will find shortened versions of the info board texts. Rikalanmäki signs from Halikko centre on road 2351 and from roads 224 and 110 lead to the car park at Rikalantie 77. The distance from Halikko centre to the site is 1.4 kilometres. The Rikalanmäki section of the ancient trail is 400 metres long, and including the Linnamäki section, the total length is approximately 2.5 km. Currently, board number 8 is missing from the route. The ancient trails include varying ascents and uneven terrain. The Rikalanmäki section is easy and the Linnamäki section of the trail is a demanding route with very steep terrain. The trails may be slippery; stay on the marked path and equip yourself with sufficiently sturdy shoes for the site. The content of the routes is suitable for all ages. There is no winter maintenance on the ancient trails. Rikalanmäki and Linnamäki are, in their entirety, sites protected by the Antiquities Act, and digging, covering, damaging, or otherwise interfering with them is prohibited. When moving on the trails with a dog, keep them leashed! This also ensures the grazing peace of the sheep grazing in Rikalanmäki. Carry any rubbish with you back home. Litter thrown into nature is life-threatening to the area's birds and other animals. Making fires is strictly prohibited! When moving in the area, please note that there are private residences nearby, and entering yards is not permitted. There are also function rooms at Rikalanmäki, and if there is a private event on the hill, the ancient trail must be accessed from behind the willow building on the right. In an emergency, call 112. The coordinates of the car park are P 60° 23.469 and I 23° 03.654. State who you are, where you are (exact address and municipality), and what has happened. Ask for help from other people on the trail and stay on site until professional help arrives. Guide helpers to the location. Call again if the situation changes. Have a pleasant trip to antiquity!
