About this place

Oravasaari is an island in the Lapuanjoki river, owned by Alavuden Eräveikot. The island can be reached dry-shod via a bridge. Oravasaari is a charming complex: a cabin, a sauna building, an outdoor toilet, and campfire sites. Access to the island requires walking down a steep slope, so the destination is not suitable for those with mobility issues. The bridge leading to the island has been renovated, trees have been felled, picnic tables built, a composting toilet installed, etc., during the last year with Leader funding support. It is possible to stay overnight in the cabin on the island, but the key must be requested from Alavuden Eräveikot. Oravasaari does not have a specific address, but the closest you can get by car is by turning right from Road 66 (from the direction of Alavus) onto Risujoentie towards the Murronneva motocross track. The track will be on your right; continue straight and very soon turn right again. Follow this road all the way, about 1.3 km. From a small widening area, a path leads right down the slope to the island. The island has a small sauna building. There are also two good campfire sites on the island for grilling sausages.
