About this place

Area: 121 ha, water area 13 ha Year of acquisition: 2012 Address: Pålbölentie 166, 07740 Pernajan Vanhakylä Directions: From Helsinki, take main road no. 7 to Porvoo and exit at junction no. 62. Turn left and continue on road no. 170 for about 10 km. Turn onto Pålbölentie and drive approx. 1.7 km. On the left side of the road, there is a forest road to the parking area. Myllyjärvi recreational area is wilderness-like with undeveloped shores. The peaceful environment of the lake has made it a nesting ground for many shy birds. The protected osprey, black-throated loon, and several hawk species nest in the area. Myllyjärvi is classified as an endangered habitat type, and the water quality of this humus-rich lake is good. For hikers seeking peace and quiet, the area offers much to see and experience. The forests have excellent mushroom and berry picking terrains. The path on the east shore runs through a rocky, lush heath forest. Along the path, near the shore, there is a small island where one should not linger during bird nesting season. On the west side, behind the shore forest, a rugged and barren rocky area rises. The forest road leading to the lake is kept closed in winter and during thaw periods.
