Neulaniemi

Neulaniemi recreational forest area is located north of the Neulamäki residential area. The area has an extensive network of outdoor trails and numerous forest paths. In winter, the fitness trails serve as ski tracks. The terrain of the area is varied. There are large differences in altitude and spectacular rock formations. The forest is mainly pine-spruce mixed forest, in addition to which there are smaller grove areas. In the northern part of Neulaniemi, along the fitness trail, is the small pond Pieni Neulalampi, which adds variety to the landscape. In the southwestern part of the outdoor area, at the head of Tervaruukinlahti, is the Tervaruukki ski lodge maintained by Kuopion Suunnistajat, which operates a café during the winter season. The area can be accessed from the Neulamäki residential area, from several points along Neulaniementie, or via the Kolmisoppi-Neulamäki area. The nearest bus stops are located along Jaamantie in the northern part of the Neulamäki residential area.
