About this place
Koitelinkoski, or Koiteli, is a rapids area of the Kiiminkijoki river, over three kilometres long and almost natural. The area is a popular outdoor destination. In Koiteli, it is possible to hike, fish, enjoy nature or have a picnic at the rest stops. In addition, the roaring rapids offer experiences for paddlers of all skill levels. The Koitelinkoski area consists of four islands: Koiteli, Sahasaari, Myllysaari and Tulisaari. The islands are connected by suspension bridges. The islands have numerous campfire sites and a well-maintained marked trail network that criss-crosses from one island to another. The trail network with its bridges is mainly suitable for strollers or wheelchairs with an assistant. In places, the trail is stepped, so an assistant is necessary for wheelchair users on these sections.
