Towards the Sacred – a medieval pilgrimage route in Turku guides the traveller to the key spiritual and cultural sites of medieval Turku and its surrounding areas. The pilgrimage route follows the path defined by the indulgence letters granted to the churches of Turku in 1396. You can walk the entire route (approx. 10 km) or explore the four sites in the centre of Turku (approx. 3 km): Turku Cathedral, the Dominican convent, St. George's Hospital, and the House of the Holy Spirit. The Towards the Sacred route is well suited for a day hike, but if you wish, you can also walk the route in a medieval weekly rhythm.
