About this place
Info board, mooring rings, buoys, campfire site, woodshed, outdoor toilet. Area: 6.6 ha Acquisition year: 1993 Nautical chart series Z 620 Norra Sandö is located in Porvoo, off the Pellinge archipelago. The association owns the northern tip of Sandö island and the Sandökobben islet. Sandö is a uniquely beautiful, narrow, and low esker island. The sparse forest consists mainly of sturdy pine trees. The association's area features the island's most magnificent sandy beach, which opens up as a concave, rapidly deepening eastward-facing stretch. The best place to land is at the rocky cape on the western side of the island, which has mooring rings and buoys to its north. A nautical chart is necessary in the stony waters of the area. Sandö island represents archipelago nature and landscape at its most beautiful, and its preservation as such in the future requires users of the area to be responsible and aware of natural values. You can enjoy the island's nature by finding "treasures" using the pirate map found at this link: http://vesi-ilma.fi/images/pdf/julkaisut/Sandnaarrekartta.pdf
