About this place
On Hartola's Kuninkaanpolku (King's Trail), you experience an interesting combination of the area's natural and cultural diversity. See trout swimming in the clear water of the rapids from Ekonkoski arch bridge, find peace on the path through the marsh forest, and cross the gently swaying suspension bridge to the magnificent surroundings of the Itä-Häme Museum to explore the area's diverse history. Hartola's Kuninkaanpolku can be started either near Linna-Hotelli or from the Itä-Häme Museum. Starting from Linna-Hotelli, you immediately get to enjoy the fine old building environment of Itä-Häme College, from where an idyllic dirt road leads towards the arch bridge crossing the clear-watered Tainionvirta Ekonkoski. From the arch bridge, continue along the dirt road until the path diverges to the right into a forest section, where you can experience a wooded marsh landscape. The suspension bridge leads across the Tainionvirta to the magnificent surroundings of the Itä-Häme Museum. From the suspension bridge, there is a beautiful view to the front left towards the Koskipää manors: the yellow building is Vanha Koskipää, and the green one is Uusi Koskipää. The green Koskipää now houses the Itä-Häme Museum, while the yellow building houses the Maila Talvio Salonki with its summer exhibitions. By the river, in a house built of sturdy logs, events like the Outo Lintu – movie night are held in August, and it is rented out for various celebrations. Hartola's Kuninkaanpolku is a trail system consisting of four sections, forming a coherent but diverse whole. Explore them all together or separately! There are two swimming spots along the route; near the sports field and near Kaikulantie. In addition, there is a winter ice swimming spot near the Itä-Häme Museum.
