About this place
You can access the southern route of the Häkkilä hiking trail from Ohenvuori, Kapustasalmi, or the yard of Häkkilä wilderness cabin. These three starting points also have parking areas. The southern route runs along the beautiful shoreline of Kyyvesi, through the ancient forest area of Keronvuori, past Maislampi and Hietajärvi to Mannisen bog, and from there to Vehkamäki and further to Kapustasalmi. Along the southern route, there are three covered rest areas, which also have toilets. Häkkilä wilderness cabin also has a water point, and the cabin can be rented for accommodation. The southern route is approximately 13 kilometres long. Viewpoints along the route include Keronvuori, which you can reach by climbing 73 steps, and Ohenvuori, which requires climbing only 63 steps. The route is marked with blue signs, as well as yellow ribbons, paint marks, and wooden signposts.
