Katiskaniemi

Katiskaniemi is located in the Rauhalahti district. The area features a couple of kilometres long nature trail circling Katiskaniemi, starting behind the Rauhalahti hotel, which is mostly located in a nature reserve. The route includes duckboards but also more challenging root-filled terrain. The characteristic terrain of the area includes deciduous groves and pine-dominated rocks. The coastal paths offer good views in different directions to the surrounding waters. In the vicinity of the area are also grazed traditional landscapes and an old lumberjack's cabin, Jätkänkämppä, with its smoke saunas. Jätkänkämppä can be rented for various events and also hosts traditional evenings. The forest continues in the western part of the area to Katiskaniemenpuisto, with its forest paths, located between the Rauhalahti hotel area and the Särkilahti residential area. The paths in the steep cliff area at the western end of the area are in places very difficult to navigate due to the steepness of the slope. The area is easily accessible from the nearby Särkilahti residential area, as well as from the Rauhalahti hotel area. The nearest bus connection is the terminal stop located right in front of the Rauhalahti hotel.
