About this place

The glass kota (traditional Sami hut) located on the shore of Alavus Tusa is a unique attraction. You can warm up inside, grill sausages outside and admire the scenery from the top of the tower. This combination of an observation tower and kota has received a lot of attention and has been in heavy use. The glass kota was completed at the beginning of 2018 and the opening ceremony was held on 23 February 2018. Access to the kota is free and the doors are open daily from 6:00 to 22:00. The combination of the glass kota and the observation tower was built with an investment project realised through the project 'Increasing the Recreational Use of Shores as Part of the Development of Alavus Town Centre'. Funding for the planning project came through Leader Kuudestaan ry and the glass kota investment itself received funding from the ELY Centre. From the campfire site, it is wonderful to watch the sunset on summer evenings and spend time with family. A woodshed, an outhouse and a recreation and fishing pier are located very close to the glass kota.
