Sydänmaan kota
Sydänmaantie 681, 61150 Alavus
About this place
In Sydänmaa, Alavus, there is a magnificent 'kota' (traditional Lappish hut) and a hunting lodge. The 'kota' was titled the finest in the province in 2001 when it was built, as it rises up to nine meters high and offers plenty of space. In the courtyard of the 'kota' there is also the Sydänmaa hunting club's hunting lodge, which was completely renovated a few years ago. The 'kota' is located right by the Alavus – Seinäjoki road, on the right side of the road when driving from Alavus, amidst a small forest. The location is not very close to nature due to the busy road nearby, but it is all the more accessible, and there is a large parking area next to it. The 'kota' itself is cosy and perfectly suited for making coffee and grilling sausages. Entry to the 'kota' is free, at least until vandalism occurs there. On the same plot, there is also a dryer and the Sydänmaa Hunting Club's hunting lodge. The latter was completely renovated a few years ago with support from Kuudestaan ry. Among other things, proper meat processing facilities were built in connection with the hunting lodge. A significant amount of voluntary work was also required from the hunting club members for this. The door to the hunting lodge is naturally normally locked, even though it is in the same courtyard as the 'kota'. If you need to use the toilet, an outdoor toilet is located behind the hunting lodge.
