About this place

The Hyyppärä-Kultalähde nature trail starts from its parking area, circling through the beautiful Hyyppärä ridge landscapes and Kultalähde, then returning to the starting point. The parking area is accessed from Oinasjärventie, with the address Oinasjärventie 366 (parking area coordinates are P 60° 27.220′ and I 23° 38.024). A brown signpost “Hyyppärän luontopolku” (Hyyppärä nature trail) guides to the nature trail parking area from Oinasjärventie. The site has information boards in the parking area, showing, for example, the route's location and a description of the sights along the nature trail. The route alignment is marked on trees along the nature trail with vertical squares, and there are guideposts at nature trail intersections. The nature trail (total length about 2.7 km) runs along a roller-coaster-like forest path network on the Hyyppärä ridge, sometimes ascending to the tops of steep ridge humps and then descending to the bottoms of kettle holes. There are two alternative routes for touring the nature trail, with lengths of 1.8 km and 2.3 km. Visitors can choose the most suitable route from these options. The nature trail is a demanding route in terms of difficulty and is suitable for healthy individuals of all ages, but it is not suitable for people with mobility impairments, as the route has several very steep ascents and descents. The use of the site is limited to the snow-free season (April-October), as there is no winter maintenance at the site. Stay on the marked trail, as the site has rare and endangered plant species. Take any rubbish with you back home. Rubbish left in nature is life-threatening to the birds and other animals in the area. Open fires are strictly forbidden! Fishing at the site and the use and contamination of spring water are prohibited. Sturdy walking shoes are suitable for the nature trail. It is recommended to only walk on the nature trail, not cycle. Trees occasionally fall across the path, where cyclists could injure themselves.
