About this place

Iivarinsalo is located in central Kallavesi between the deep channel and the channel leading to Vehmersalmi. The island is part of Kuopio National Urban Park. Natural sandy beaches, ideal for swimming and sunbathing, circle the north-eastern tip of Iivarinsalo. The island is one of the most popular boating destinations in the Kallavesi archipelago and is suitable for overnight stays and temporary visits. To the north of the island are protected small islands; Piippu- and Korppiluodot, where landing is prohibited during the bird nesting season from 1.5. to 31.7., during which time it is also advisable to avoid moving in their vicinity. A campfire site is located on the western shore of the island. Firewood is available at the site. In the southern part of the island are the bases of Kuopion Pursiseura and Järvipelastajat (Lake Rescuers). Strong easterly and north-easterly winds can make landing difficult. Facilities: campfire site, firewood
