About this place

Part of the Kuhankuono hiking trail network. The trail is maintained by Kuhankuono Hiking Trail and Recreational Area Association. The Haukkavuori trail is named after the Haukkavuori ski resort, its starting point on the Riihikoski side of the out-and-back trail. The trail, which is over ten kilometres long, can also be started from the eastern end, from Kurjenpesä car park, or from Kurjenportti car park located by Säkyläntie road. When starting the trail, you will need to cross the busy Säkyläntie road. Along the Haukkavuori trail, there is the Korppisaari campfire site, and at the end of a short side trail, Honkasaari lean-to, which is well-suited for overnight stays, approximately halfway. Additionally, there is another lean-to near Haukkavuori ski resort. The trail features beautiful, raised bog mires crossed by duckboards and rocky pine islets. Part of the journey is along forest roads surrounded by commercial forests. The trail is easy to navigate and does not require special hiking experience. In autumn and after heavy rains, rubber boots are the safest footwear option; during dry periods, trainers are sufficient. There is no winter maintenance on the trail. With breaks, allow at least four hours for the out-and-back journey. The trail runs in the Pöytyä area.
