Lemmenpolku

The renewed Lemmenpolku (Love Path) attracts day hikers to the Oulujoki river for invigorating walks. The 2.1 km long nature trail, running between Montta camping site and Pyhäkoski power plant, is part of the 100 km long Oulujokilaakso Tervareitistö (Tar Trail). User-friendly information boards tell about the area's nature, cultural history, and fascinating geology. Along Lemmenpolku are, for example, a deciduous forest conservation area, the Kieksi conglomerate (Muhos formation), the Pyhäkoski power plant, and the recreational fishing destination Montta–Pyhäkoski Kala-apaja. The most dramatic river landscapes of Oulujoki open up from the top of the red granite cliff. Lemmenpolku is an important Rokua UNESCO Geopark site. Lemmenpolku is easy to reach, it takes 30 minutes to drive from Oulu, and it is also accessible by bus. Parking areas are located at Montta camping site and Leppiniemi (Lanttotie). There are information boards at the starting points. The route is maintained, marked, and safe. Along the route, there are, for example, resting places, campfire sites, and a fishing pier. As a moderately challenging trail, Lemmenpolku is suitable for those with normal to good physical condition. No winter maintenance.
